How Do You Checkin with Yourself as a Leader?

By Josh Schneider

This picture from yesterday was way overdue. I was driving back to the office from an early morning meeting and realized I had about 90 minutes before needing to be at my desk, camera on for my next call.

Of course the 19 overdue items screaming for my attention were rushing through my head but I felt the overwhelming need to check in with myself. To foster some time in search of deeper clarity and to strengthen the vision that powers my daily activities.

I know one of my triggers is novelty. So I found a coffee shop I’d never been to, strolled in, ordered and espresso and Guatemala pour over. Snapped this pic. And got to writing.

It was toughhhh for the first 10 minutes….

I could see my car in the parking lot through the window by my table. I thought about leaving.

But then I kept writing. Pushing deeper.

⚡️🚀🌝

I hit a vein. A zone of beautiful flow. 40 minutes of insane clarity and dreaming and refreshing thoughts flowed.

These special moments of just getting pen to paper. Or iPad. Can spark momentum that fuels creativity and clarity for weeks or even months at a time.

The real truth is that these moments don’t happen enough but when they do they are special.

Macro patience. Micro speed.
